Azi orphanage has been operational since the year 2000.It is owned, and controlled by Madam Agnes Azilefeh Fonkeng. She lives in a three bed room house at Mulango Street, Fiango with the orphans who are 13 in number, and are between the ages of 3 and 12.

The Azi Family

The responsibility of caring for the children is her sole responsibility. She caters for the children by means of subsistence farming, which is very hard work to feed about 15 mouths. However, some people of good will have decided to help her out. Also, the Kumba 1 Council has taken the decision to assist her though she is based in another Sub-Division.

The Azi Orphanage

In an encounter with the children of the orphanage, we discovered that the children are God fearing, and have the zeal to study but can’t do that without the help of people. Most of the children including their mother, say they don’t have books to use in school, and that they are also in need of food.

The plights of the children have been taken to the Mayor of the Kumba 1 Council, Prince Ekale Mukete who has convened a meeting to discuss on the issue. The decisions arrived at was that her plight be brought to the limelight, and appeal to charitable members of Cameroon Diaspora.

Also, another important decision was to create a Web- based programme whereby the Kumba 1 Council acts as a conduit for assistance to be channeled to some worthy causes in the city of Kumba. It goes by the name: KUMBA 1 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME (K1.P.A.P).

All supports aimed at improving the livelihood of the children at Azi orphanage would be highly appreciated.
