In a special message contained in the S.D.O’s address, the Governor Koumpa Issa  welcomed the delegations from all six Divisions in the Region (Meme, Fako, Lebialem, Ndian, Manyu and Kupe Mueneguba)

The competition would see the best in categories like Football, Handball and athletics  represent the South West Region at the national finals to hold in Limbe on April,26th 2011.

So far, Mbonge subdivision has grabbed the lone ticket for the athletics category after picking up 6 wins out of 8. The Kumba 1 Subdivision was 2nd  after grabbing the remaining two seats. They did not qualify.

According to the Regional Delegate for Sports Mr Njica Joseph, “Kumba was selected to host the finals because it is a junction town with good infrastructure to host a competition of such magnitude. It was also to discard the idea that the finals must always be organised in Buea or Limbe”.
