A four day workshop on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation has just ended at the Presbyterian Church Center Kumba.The workshop which started on Sunday August 7th was the advanced training on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation organised by the Youth Department of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) in partnership with EED/CPS a development organisation of protestant Churches in Germany and the Civil Peace Service.

Eighteen youth leaders and members of the Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) from four Presbyteries participated in this advanced training on peace building and public transformation. Critical issues on Conflict Escalation, Aggression, Dynamics of Violence, Conflict Analysis, De-escalation and fair play were discussed.

The workshop comes after a series of training sessions on the basics of Peace Building and Conflict Transformation had been held in the South West, North West and East Mungo Regions.According to the facilitator and Civil Peace Worker and German national Madam Katharina Schilling, the programme aims at Peace Building, Conflict Prevention and Transformation in diverse areas and by various civil means appropriately applied in the three stages of Conflict Prevention, Open Violence and Post Conflict. She added that respect towards self and others is paramount and youths should tilt their youthful energies towards accepting and dialoguing with others for better understanding.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Secretary of the PCC Rev. Mekumba  Francis crowned the event by awarding Attestations  to participants with a word of advice, remaining them to remain on the peace lane. He urged them to make use of the much knowledge acquired on Peace building appropriate in the course to create a better tomorrow for Cameroon.
