HIV/AIDS TRAINING SCHOOL GOES OPERATIONAL IN K-TOWN

The first ever HIV/AIDS training school in Cameroon has kick started in kumba, the economic capital of the South West Region. Dubbed HIV/AIDS prevention Research NETWORK- Cameroon (HIVPREC), the school will train HIV/AIDS prevention educators for a period of one year. Graduates  from  the school shall be sent back to impact their schools , churches communities .

Medic director and CEO of HIVPREC, Elvis Tarkang lhas said,the main objective of the school is the prevention of HIV/AIDS in Cameroon through formalised education and good training,. Dr Tarkang , a pathologist and a specialist on HIV/AIDS prevention from the university of South Africa further revealed that his Doctoral Research on HIV/AIDS,Condom,and Sexual behaviour among Senior Secondary School learners in kumba indicates that the solution to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Cameroon is beyond sensitisation. Dr Tankang   posited that HIVPREC will provide Cameroonians especially the youths who are hardest  hit by the HIV pandemic to be informed and take responsible decisions, adding that health education is crucial component of providing youths with knowlegde and skills they need to lead healthy successful lives.

Given that there is no cure yet for HIV/AIDS, the medic stressed the need for preventative measures to cure the spread of HIV/AIDS.In the school, Dr Tarkang wants to provide accurate information to the youths concerning the nature of HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, methods of prevention and adding that graduates of that school shall be sent back to impact their various institutions
