The demolition of old plank houses (karabout) along the main streets in Kumba  in preference to block constructions has  become  a reality. This act has been spearheaded by the Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council,Victor Ngoh Nkele. The demolition started on the 16th  January 2012 along the Buea Road neighborhood,  and continued to mile one Mbonge Road, Commercial Avenue, kumba Town.

This demolition of houses has really rendered some people homeless, as some of the inhabitants were living in houses which they had built. While the demolition was going on, some of  the passerbys were for the demolition, they argued that the destruction of old plank houses had been announced since about three years back  and so the demolition should not be a surprising to any one.   Others who were against argued that some inhabitants of these houses might be living in the houses constructed by their grand fathers .

Any ways what ever the  Government Delegate wants to do with the city of kumba, it  is to perceive  a new look in the city of kumba.
