Senator Nfon V.E Mukete is the provisionary Leader of Cameroon’s first ever Senate

Tuesday May 14, 2013 was the day of the opening of the first statutory ordinary session of the upper chamber of parliament at the National Assembly in Yaoundé. Senator Nfon Victor Essemi Mukete, the Traditional Leader of the Bafaws from the South West Region was nominated on account of his age, Provisional Leader of Cameroon’s first ever Senate. He was introduced alongside two other lieutenants who will assist him steer the affairs of the Senate until the time a permanent bureau is put in place.

During this session Senator Nfon Mukete promised that this provisionary bureau will conduct the business of the house with wisdom foresight and sagacity during this first statutory session.

Constitutionally, the senate president is the second personality of the republic. In this case, it is a simple political logic that since the president of the republic is French-speaking; the senate president will obviously come from the Anglophone region

CPDM militants from Meme have a family picture with their senator

During this session, various C.P.D.M militants and sympathizers , traditional dance groups Bafaw Women Choir and other dance groups from Meme Division from the South West Province were out there displaying thereby celebrating, jubilating and giving their senator the moral support. Other groups too were there to cheer up their senators.
